Who Will Accept the Invitation?

Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God. --Luke 14: 15b (NIV)
Context: Luke 14: 15-24 (NIV)

A feast? In God's kingdom? What a celebration! The hall has been cleaned, the table has been set, and the food has been prepared. Everything is ready for the guests to come. So who has accepted the invitation? Who will gather to eat?

Luke Hartmen, a speaker at the Atlanta Convention, touched on this subject of invitation and acceptance. He said that although everyone is invited, we must choose for ourselves whether to attend. This verse is taken from the parable of the great feast recorded in Luke. A man is planning a banquet, and everything was ready. So he sent his servant to ask his guests to come, but none of them accepted. But the man was still determined. So he sent his servant out into the streets, bringing people inside until there was no more room.

The people who took part in the celebration where the ones who said yes to the invitaion. We are all invited, but we must respond. God has made us welcome. The feast is ready!

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for all the things that you have given us. We know there will always be a place for us at the table. May we all accept your invitation enthusiastically. Amen.
