Thinking and Living Like Jesus
Our son and his family live in another cultural setting where they share the good news about Jesus. There they concentrate on learning how the people around them "think" and what makes their neighbors "tick." What motivates these people, what causes them to live as they do, and why do they make the choices they do? Learning about the thinking processes of the folks they associate with equips them better to share the news of salvation through Jesus. As people who love the Lord, we are first called to search out the mind of Christ. We probe the mind of Jesus and allow for the renewing of our minds through the transforming power of our God. We are then expected to move beyond just thinking like Jesus to walking the Jesus' way. The biblical record of his time on earth becomes our map and guide. Once we experience a changed mind, the same mind that was in Christ Jesus, we will then be able to follow his footsteps. We will not only be of one mind, but we will be able to love, to live in unity, and to look first to the interests of others. Our actions flow out from our thought patterns. Thinking and living as Jesus wants does not happen in one day, or even one year. It is a process for all the years of our lives.
