Giving More Than Gold or Silver

Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." --Acts 3:6 (NIV)
Context: Acts 3:1-26 (NIV)

Peter let the beggar know he could not give him money, but he could give him something else. What was it Peter had to give? Peter had faith in a risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Moreover, he had received power from the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. (Acts 2)

Those of us who are saved by faith in Jesus Christ have been gifted with the Holy Spirit. How are we passing on the gift? Do we give what we have as Peter gave? Whom do we pass in our daily living who could benefit from our faith in Christ? A coworker, a boss, a child's teacher, a child, the person in line ahead of us at the grocery store, a neighbor, a buddy at school? In all our relationships, is our faith and love for Jesus shining through? Let your light shine so that others will be pointed to Jesus. Be bold in giving a word of encouragement, a prayer for healing; praise for a job well done, all in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Blessed are you, Lord God. You have promised to us new life through baptism with water and the Holy Spirit. We desire to love and live for you. Let our lives be as true as our faith. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
